Kentucky Auctioneers Association Battle of the Bluegrass 2020 was held in Lexington, Kentucky – Saturday, August 29, 2020

Auctioneers From Across the Country Battle for $10K in the Bluegrass State. While coming from as far west as California, auctioneers and ringmen converged in Lexington, Kentucky at the Blue Grass Stockyard and Marketplace to showcase their skills, chanting their way to a hopeful win of ten grand. In fact, competing in the championship are 25 auctioneers and ringmen from ten states. As a result, throughout the day competitions for auctioneer as well as ringman will gradually reveal the champion in each category.

Auctioneers Battle in the Bid Calling Championship

Truly nearly everyone has seen an auctioneer hard at work. Markedly stepping up to the microphone and grabbing the attention of the room. Thus taking control of the auction block as bids come in from left, right, all over the room. Of course each auctioneer talks fast, each having a chant all their own. Although the room may at times not understand the fast words rolling off of the auctioneer’s tongue, there is one in the room who has a handle on every word. By all means this individual is helping the auctioneer.

As a matter of fact, communicating with the auctioneer and the bidders is the ringman. Expressly acting as an additional set of eyes for the auctioneer, the ringman’s job is to help ensure the auctioneer acknowledges each bid. In fact, this team effort is crucial. Especially in larger auctions. In which case, more than one ringman may be utilized. Frequently, there are even competitions focusing on how well the auctioneer and the ringman work together.

Battle of the Bluegrass Preliminary Round

To begin with, the 25 contestant will compete in the Preliminary Rounds. After which the ten contestants with the highest scores will advance to the Finals. Indeed the scoring is conducted based on Battle of the Bluegrass Open Bid Calling Championship and Open Ringman Championship scorecard criteria. Consequently, the top 5 finalists will receive $5,000, $2,500, $1,250, $750, $500. While the Champion will walk away with $5,000 grand prize.
