In Hattiesburg, MS, located downtown inside the Paul B. Johnson Chancery Building is the office of the Forrest County Chancery Clerk Jimmy C. Havard. There are numerous areas in which the Forrest County Chancery Court can be of service. Such areas of service are Estate, Injunction or Settlement of Small Claim. Serving a term of four years, some of the Chancery Clerk’s duties include Clerk of the Chancery Court as well as Custodian of Public Land Records. Examples of these land records are deeds of trusts, mortgages, mineral leases and plats of land surveys.As Chancery Clerk, Havard has 5 major responsibilities.

As well, the Municipal Court Clerk for Hattiesburg, MS is Ines Faye Hicks. The responsibilities of Hicks and this court are to process and adjudicate the city’s misdemeanor arrests. In addition to Hicks, the Court Division also consists of a judge, a prosecutor and a public defender, all of whom are appointed by the Mayor. From police-initiated arrests to traffic citations to personal affidavits, all of these are cases heard in this court. Not to mention first appearance or preliminary hearings for felony defendants.
