As well as providing free camps and grants. Additionally, United Heroes League provides free tickets and special events for military families. Partners and sponsors have sent military families and their kids to college and pro games for each sport. By helping kids get on the field and play in the sports they admire, United Heroes League is helping keep them active and healthy while their parents serve our country.
United Heroes League Armed Forces Classic Live Auction
The short auction of 5 items resulted in 3500.00 in proceeds that will benefit the organization. Karalyn Martin a Finalist for Ms. Veteran America was first hand in assisting in the Auction. A signed Wayne Gretzky jersey brought 1750.00. Of course Karalyn and I had to visit the Marines dugout.
Indeed, today’s game was very exciting! The finalists were from the Air Force, the Marine Corps and the Navy. In the first round the Marine Corps challenged the Air Force for the Fiske Hanley Cup. The Maggie cup was presented to the Navy team in the final round following overtime and seven rounds of the final heat.

Moreover, this was my first hockey game as a spectator and photographer. The rapid movements were ever quickening to my eye. For instance, focusing in on the puck with my lens. Yet, before I could get the photo, BAM! All of the sudden would be at the other end of the ice.
Now the athletes kept skating back and forth, crisscrossing side to side along the ice. Standing near the glass of the inner perimeter wall I could hear the ricochet popping in my ears as I snapped the photos.
Of course many times players would hard press another up against the wall. Try as hard as I did, getting the shot was difficult as the rattling of the glass was jolting me. Consequently, I learned to take the position down on the floor level with the players on the ice. Similarly learning to watch the goalie’s movements to know when the action was coming near. Watching the lumber and biscuits slide left and right I began seeing that the gaze behind the helmet accompanied the stare toward the goal.
My First Hockey Game Was Exciting Thanks to United Heroes League
Crackkkkk!! Swinging amiss as the puck slams against the glass right in front of me. Initially, I couldn’t help but jump back startled. However, I would eventually realize that the 1 inch thick glass was protection and I began standing my ground. While the puck slid in all directions, I was able to follow along capturing the still shots. Just like the passing of time, the excitement didn’t stop. Constant rapid fire strikes against the puck with one goal in mind…to make it into the net.
Truly the stand-off was fierce for the Fiske Hanley Cup. Although the Marine Corps won out over the Air a Force, the Navy became the victors in the Maggie Cup and the Sudden Death. However not without fierce competition from a group of Devil Dogs who played with their hearts on fire. Click here to learn more about the United Heroes League.
