Sometime in 1880 a veteran of the Union Army arrived in what was at the time Bransford. It was on a piece of this rural land that the veteran, a distinguished physician, Dr. Lilburn Howard Colley settled. The spot would remain named Bransford for the next thirty-four years. During which time Dr. Colley provided services for the area creating a reputation. So much so that in 1914 the town was named Colleyville in his honor.

Today Colleyville still maintains the rural feel which attracts families to locate here. Dallas and Fort Worth are about a 20 to 30-minute drive away. This friendly community has so much to offer families and visitors.

For instance, the Webb House. A remaining structure from when the town was still Bransford. Built in the 1900’s by store owner John Reuben Webb after losing his home to a fire. Step back in time to the days of Dr. Colley and Mr. Webb getting a glimpse of their typical style of homes for that era.

As a matter of fact, Colleyville offers a treasure for her residents and visitors many don’t even know about. Colleyville Nature Center spans over 40 acres. Opening 30 minutes prior to sunrise makes it an ideal location for that brisk early morning bike ride. Hit the trail as the dew is still fresh upon the ground. Listen to the birds awakening as you cycle by. Smell the flowers as they stretch their petals toward the sky. Later gather the family and friends at the park. Nibble from a picnic lunch as the kids run and laugh at the playground. Take in the sunset while dropping a fishing line in one of the ponds.
