In 1968, during an ambush while under heavy enemy fire, Doc, a medic, was treating wounded Marines. When a grenade landed near him and his comrades, immediately Doc threw himself on the grenade - and was prepared to die ... but the grenade failed to detonate and Doc rose, tossed the grenade away, and continued to treat the wounded while still under fire.
