SH 66 Bridge Gets a New Name

Previously it has been known as the SH 66 bridge. The bridge is between Rockwall and Rowlett. Years ago a gentleman began walking the bridge everyday. Jeffrey Gray, his name, is a retired Marine and Rowlett Vet.  His daily walks across the bridge were to honor men and women in uniform who make the ultimate sacrifice. During the year flags began appearing on the bridge. American flags. POW/MIA flags. Having been given permission to hang them, Gray was doing so proudly.

Walk the Heroes Memorial Bridge Movement

Eventually, his walks became a mission to remember the 22 uniformed men and women, military and first responders, daily who succumb to suicide. Soon began the Walk the Bridge Movement under the direction of Third Watch LE Motorcycle Club and Rowlett Veterans Resource Outreach Center. An effort to rename the SH 66 bridge the Heroes Bridge gained the support of many state and local companies, residents and officials.
